About us

A cap in the colors of the British Air Force was a visible but safe way to show resistance to the Germans.

From Resistance to Remembrance

The Museum of Danish Resistance is the museum of Denmark’s resistance during the occupation in 1940–45. A large part of the experience is underground, where visitors are taken on a journey through Denmark during the occupation. The Museum of Danish Resistance tells the story of the men and women who chose to resist, and the difficult choices and consequences they faced. The museum first opened on 15 October 1957 and was a gift from the resistance movement to the Danish state. From the beginning, the museum became part of the National Museum, which it still is today.
